Today’s blog is about the new trends in outdoor drapery. Now you may be wondering either “awesome I love it” or “why in Arizona? The Sun will eat it alive!!”

Well actually, you can really accent your outdoor living space and provide style, shade and protection from the sun with a really good look.

At Creative Home Fabrics after working with these draperies for over 10 years we’ve discovered all the secrets to making outdoor draperies to make them beautiful and functional. If you don’t know, Subrella is a solution died acrylic fabric that holds up to the most extreme sun situations resisting fading, rotting, mold and mildew.

What many of our clients are doing today is using Sunbrella fabric in beautiful colors for their outdoor patios and putting it on metal, durable drapery rods. So now we are able to draw that against the western sun or when they are not having “sun issues” you can drape it and tie it back. It will make your outdoor living place look much more warm and inviting.

Also a new project that has just come out is Sheer Sunbrella where it allows breezes to come through (great for the little desert breeze we get), plus provides shade and privacy and is just an ideal fabric for your outdoor patio.

Now, if you are thinking, this is too hard to do myself? Think again! We have rod systems that make it very easy to traverse the draperies back and forth and to tie them back. Of course you could also work with our experienced team of designers to do everything for you.

In most parts of the country, people are just starting to venture outdoors, the last bit of snow is melting, and the outdoor festivals and backyard grills are in full effect. In Phoenix, we are already tanned from being outdoors since February. And we like to stay outdoors. Which is why we love outdoor furniture. Problem is, most outdoor furniture can’t survive a summer here. The fabrics get faded and fall apart. As much as we look to the sun as our mortal enenmy in the summer, it doesn’t have to be the case for your fabrics.

They actually make (and we of course carry) a fabric that is like kryptonite to the sun, called Sunbrella. You can leave it in the direct sun, you can let it fall into the pool for a few days, have some dust storms dirty it up, then spray it down with the hose, and like magic, it still looks and feels like the day you had your furniture reupholstered.

We can remake your high end outdoor living furniture that has seen better days, or your Target/Lowes/Home Depot patio set and bring it a second life. Better yet, we have all the new contemporary colors that can bring your backyard to life, and almost make you forget that it’s 110 degrees in the shade.

So contact us/come in today to see all options we have for you. Also view the photos below to see what the folks from Extreme Home Makeover’s crew did with our outdoor fabrics to this Tucson home.
